Greetings! On behalf of Blue Star Mothers everywhere, we would like to welcome you as you begin your journey as a military parent! The road chosen by our children can be a rocky one at times, which is why we have chosen to begin this group. We are here to support you, the military parent and military family in any way that we can, and to assist you in understanding the path that your child has chosen to follow. We want to assure you that you do not walk alone.
Mothers have volunteered throughout the tough times of all military conflicts. We have worked in hospitals, train stations, packed care packages for soldiers and were an integral working part of homeland security during times of war. The organization waned in size over the years but has held together by mothers showing pride in both their children and country. In recent times we have began to grow in strength. Mothers once again hang the Blue Star flag in their windows at home proclaiming pride in the fact that we have children protecting our freedom.
Our local group consists of Blue Star Moms, Dads, Siblings, Extended Family such as Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Friends and interested Community Members. Each of us has someone we know, love and cherish who has pledged an oath to our Country by serving in the Military, and in turn, we support them in their decision as well as offering support for each other. While we do encourage the local community to attend and assist at our meetings, we would appreciate a notification of your attending to allow us to make time on our agenda for you. Those who are not members are asked to listen and learn more about who we are and what we do to be able to know our members better, then at the end of the meeting ask questions about what they like to learn more about.
On this site, you will find important information to assist you in understanding the military way of life. Whether it be with basic training information, deployment and what to expect, Veteran's information, or local contacts, we will try to provide you with answers to questions that all parents have regarding their child's decision to join up and fall in.
We are a non-profit, service organization. We volunteer our time to raise public awareness of our Troop's needs, we raise the funds necessary to further our goals of meeting these needs and we work with the local community to ensure that all are aware of the importance of this task. In addition, we work with the families of those in the military by offering moral support to each other, by sending care packages overseas, as well as cards, letters and more.
In addition to the care packages, cards and letters, we attend deployment ceremonies, re-deployment ceremonies, homecomings, and burials. We offer our gratitude to those serving and show our respect to those who have fallen as well as to their families for their sacrifice.
Our soldiers are our children, we do what we can, by all means possible, to ensure that they know they have not been forgotten. Yesterday, Today and Always, we support our Troops.
Please follow all OPSEC (Operations Security) measures by refraining from posting personal information such as home addresses, Troop movements, names or ranks of military members, APO or FPO addresses or any other items that may be considered Classified Information.
